The first picture of Dr Umar Mohammad, suspected to be the suicide bomber in the Delhi blast case, has emerged. Dr Umar, a resident of Pulwama in South Kashmir, owned the white Hyundai i20 that exploded near the Red Fort on Monday evening, killing at least nine people and injuring 20 others.

According to NDTV, which accessed the first image of the suspect, Dr Umar was a close aide of Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather and Dr Mujammil Shakil—two doctors arrested on Monday in connection with a “white-collar terror module” jointly busted by the Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana Police.

Investigators said Dr Umar fled Faridabad after learning of his associates’ arrests. In a state of panic, he reportedly triggered the explosion. Sources suggest that Dr Umar, along with two other associates, had planned the attack and planted a detonator in the car.

Car parked near Red Fort for hours before explosion

CCTV footage revealed that the white Hyundai i20—bearing registration number HR 26CE7674—was parked in the Red Fort parking lot for over three hours. It entered at 3:19 pm and exited around 6:30 pm, just before the explosion, officials said.

Vehicle exchanged hands several times before blast

Preliminary investigations show the car had changed ownership multiple times before it reached Dr Umar. Sources said it was initially sold by Salman to Devender in March 2025. Devender later sold it to Aamir on October 29, who then transferred it to Dr Umar Mohammad.

Another individual, Tariq, was also aware of the vehicle exchange, and both Aamir and Tariq are currently being questioned by Delhi Police.

Security agencies are probing whether the car’s multiple ownership transfers were part of a deliberate attempt to obscure its trail.
