Shooter wanted in triple murder among 2 held in plot to kill Munawar Faruqui
Two suspected shooters linked to the Rohit Godara–Goldy Brar–Virender Charan gang were arrested in a dramatic police operation on Jaitpur-Kalindi Kunj Road on Thursday. The duo had allegedly been assigned to assassinate stand-up comedian and Bigg Boss 2024 winner Munawar Faruqui, according to Delhi Police.
The suspects, identified as Rahul from Panipat and Sahil from Bhiwani, both in Haryana, were apprehended following a brief gunfight. Police said Rahul sustained a gunshot injury during the exchange and was later taken to a hospital for treatment.
Investigators revealed that the two men were acting under the direction of foreign-based gangster Rohit Godara, who is believed to be collaborating with Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar and Virender Charan. The group had reportedly been targeting Faruqui for elimination.
Police sources confirmed that the accused had conducted detailed reconnaissance in Mumbai and Bengaluru to track the comedian’s movements. Faruqui, who has over 14.2 million followers on Instagram, rose to national fame after winning Bigg Boss in 2024.
Further investigations revealed that Rahul is also wanted in connection with a triple murder case that took place in Yamunanagar, Haryana, in December 2024.
Officers recovered firearms used in the shootout and a motorcycle believed to have been used by the suspects. Authorities are now probing deeper into the gang’s network and potential threats to other public figures.
