Mujeeb Don-led group accused of killing man in front of kids
A man was brutally murdered in front of his two young sons in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on Wednesday, in what police believe was a fallout of an old business rivalry.
The victim, identified as Syed Imran Shafiq, was travelling with his three-year-old and 13-year-old sons near the Silk Mill Colony area when his auto was intercepted by a car. Around five to six men dragged Shafiq and his children out before launching a violent assault.
According to police, the attackers chopped off Shafiq’s fingers, slit his wrist, and struck him repeatedly on the head and neck. They then stabbed him multiple times and left him bleeding to death under a nearby foot overbridge.
His children reportedly witnessed the entire attack.
Police suspect the killing was linked to a long-standing dispute in the gas business. Within nine hours of the murder, three suspects were arrested.
The prime accused, Mujeeb Don, has several criminal cases registered against him, according to authorities. The other two arrested have been identified as Mujeeb’s brother, Saddam Hussain Moinuddin, and his brother-in-law, Sheikh Irfan Sheikh Suleman.
Police said further investigations are underway to track down other suspects involved in the assault.
