Pakistani national secured UP govt job with forged papers
Police in Uttar Pradesh have registered an FIR against a woman for allegedly securing a government job by concealing her Pakistani nationality, with the deception coming to light nearly three decades later.
According to officials, the case was registered at Azim Nagar police station following a complaint by the Basic Education Department after an internal inquiry found that Mahira Akhtar, also known as Farzana, had obtained employment using forged documents.
Additional Superintendent of Police Anurag Singh said the accused had been working as a teacher at a primary school in Kumhariya village.
“An FIR has been registered under sections 318(4), 336, 338, and 340 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for cheating and forgery. It is alleged that despite being a Pakistani national, she secured a job in the education department using a fake residence certificate,” Singh said.
Police investigations revealed that the woman married a Pakistani national in 1979 and subsequently acquired Pakistani citizenship. After divorcing him, she allegedly returned to India on a Pakistani passport and married a local man around 1985.
Around the same period, she joined the Basic Education Department by projecting herself as an Indian citizen, officials said.
Following confirmation of her Pakistani nationality, the department first suspended her and later dismissed her from service. Police registered the FIR based on the department’s findings.
Officials said the investigation is ongoing and evidence is being collected. No arrests have been made so far.
