Why does Rahul Gandhi bat for Chinese soldiers and oppose Indian Agniveers?
On Tuesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that the Agniveer scheme that trains recruits for a mere six months is grossly inadequate when compared to the five-year training regimen of Chinese soldiers.
Rahul Gandhi also claimed the sena was not in favour of this scheme.
Rahul Gandhi pledged that a Congress-led government would dismantle the Agnipath scheme, which he described as ill-conceived by the prime minister and rejected by the military establishment.
The dynast Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi has been peddling a narrative against the Agniveer scheme, painting a grim picture of the Agniveer’s future, lacking in both recognition and benefits, standing in stark contrast to their adversaries.
“Chinese soldiers will come after undergoing (combat) training for five years. You can understand the result. Our son (Agniveer) will be martyred. Then we will be told that he won’t get the status of martyr because he is Agniveer. You will neither get the canteen facility nor a pension.

The Agnipath scheme, introduced in June 2022, aims to rejuvenate the armed forces by recruiting young individuals for short stints, with a small fraction retained for longer service.
The Congress in its manifesto “Nyay Patra” has promised to abolish the Agnipath/ Agniveer scheme.
Earlier, during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi, again in his rhetoric attacked the Central government on the Agniveer Yojana. He said that if four people are recruited under Agniveer, one will be thrown out. Agniveer will get 6 months training.
Rahul Gandhi alleged that China is preparing for war while the Indian government is “asleep and trying to ignore the threat”. He also alleged that China has taken away 2,000 square kilometres of Indian territory, killed 20 Indian soldiers, and is “beating up our jawans in Arunachal Pradesh”.
In 2019, Rahul Gandhi tweeted two pictures of the Indian Army’s canine unit doing yoga along with their instructors. The tweet was captioned by Rahul Gandhi as ‘New India’.

The tweet led to massive uproar and several people, commentators and the general public believed that the Congress president had insulted the canine unit of the Indian Army.
A complaint was filed by one Atal Bihari Dubey, a practicing advocate in the Bombay High Court and other courts in Mumbai. The complaint said that Rahul Gandhi has indulged in ‘public mischief with the intention to disrespect the Indian Army as well as International Yoga Day’.
