Suspicious drone movement spotted in Khari Karmara area along LoC

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday foiled an attempt to smuggle an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and ammunition into Indian territory using aerial vehicles along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch sector, officials said.

According to security sources, suspicious drone movement was detected in the early hours in the Khari Karmara area near the LoC. Acting swiftly on the input, forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to prevent any potential threat. The operation ensured that the situation was brought under control, effectively neutralising the attempted infiltration.

The incident comes amid heightened counter-terror operations in the region, with the Army’s Romeo Force actively engaged in tracking down terrorists in the snowbound Pir Panjal range of Poonch. Intelligence agencies have warned that terror groups are attempting to exploit the winter months to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir and carry out disruptive activities.

Security forces across the region have been placed on high alert to counter any such attempts and maintain stability. Officials said sustained vigilance along the LoC and hinterland has played a crucial role in foiling infiltration and smuggling bids.

Meanwhile, a parallel operation has been underway for the past nine days in the Kishtwar and Doda heights, where Army and security forces are hunting for Saifullah, a Pakistani national and senior Jaish-e-Mohammed commander, and his deputy Adil. Both terrorists carry a reward of Rs 5 lakh each.

Authorities said operations will continue until all threats are neutralised, reiterating their commitment to maintaining peace and security in Jammu and Kashmir.
