PM promises law-and-order overhaul, targets corruption and ‘syndicate raj’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the All India Trinamool Congress, claiming the party is in “panic mode” amid rising support for the Bharatiya Janata Party in West Bengal.

Addressing election rallies in Purba Bardhaman and Jangipur, he alleged that the TMC had “destroyed” the state’s law and order and promised strict action against political violence if the BJP comes to power.

Promises action on violence and infiltration

The Prime Minister said his government would act against those involved in political violence and ensure safety, especially for women. He also vowed to expel illegal infiltrators and take action against those aiding them.

    White paper, probe panel announced

Modi said the BJP would release a white paper on corruption and set up a probe led by a retired Supreme Court of India judge to investigate incidents of political violence.

He added that while welfare schemes by the current government would continue, corruption and “syndicate raj” would be dismantled.

    Key poll promises

The Prime Minister said the BJP would implement the Ayushman Bharat scheme in the state and introduce transparent tendering processes. He also reiterated plans to bring a Uniform Civil Code if voted to power.

Assembly elections in West Bengal will be held in two phases on April 23 and 29, with counting set for May 4.
