“Received a call from President Trump and had a useful exchange of views on the situation in West Asia. India supports de-escalation and restoration of peace at the earliest. Trump signals possible de-escalation
Trump on Monday said his administration was holding “productive” talks with Tehran, raising hopes that the ongoing conflict could be moving toward a de-escalation.
The US president also announced a five-day extension to his earlier deadline for potential strikes on Iranian power infrastructure over Iran’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
The strait is one of the world’s most crucial maritime routes for energy trade, carrying a significant share of global oil shipments, making its security a major concern for the international community.
