CM Yogi inaugurates 137 projects and schemes worth Rs.583 crore

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has inaugurated a series of significant development projects in the Braj region, aiming to enhance infrastructure and facilities ahead of the Janmashtami celebrations. On Sunday, CM Adityanath laid the foundation for numerous projects valued at hundreds of crores and officially launched 137 schemes totaling Rs.583 crore.

Among the notable projects inaugurated were the ropeway in Barsana and the Yamuna cruise. The Chief Minister’s presence underscored the importance of these initiatives, which are expected to boost tourism and local development in the region.

The three-day Shri Krishna Janmashtami Maha Mahotsava commenced on Sunday evening, featuring a range of cultural programs. Shyam Bahadur Singh, CEO of the Uttar Pradesh Vraj Tirth Vikas Parishad, announced that celebrations would include performances on five large stages, 19 smaller stages, and across 20 key roads in Mathura.

In preparation for the festival, extensive arrangements are underway to ensure a smooth and secure celebration, reflecting the city’s dedication to honoring its cultural and religious heritage.

Mathura Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shailesh Pandey said that elaborate arrangements have been made to manage the large influx of devotees and ensure comprehensive security at key locations.

The SSP added that there is a continuous flow of devotees and comprehensive security measures have been implemented at key locations, including the Shri Krishna Janmasthan temple and the Banke Bihari temple in Vrindavan.

“Shri Krishna Janmasthan — the main celebration area, has been divided into three zones and 17 sectors, with officials assigned to manage the festivities. Lakhs of people also come to visit the Banke Bihari temple in Vrindavan. There is a continuous flow of devotees at all places, for which a comprehensive security arrangement is being ensured,” the SSP added.

Krishna Janmashtami, the much-anticipated festival commemorating the birth of Shri Krishna, will be celebrated across India on August 26 this year. Devotees will observe traditional fasting and adorn temples and homes with vibrant flowers, illuminating diyas, and festive lights.

The festival is marked with particular grandeur in Mathura and Vrindavan, regions deeply connected to Krishna’s early years. These towns come alive with elaborate celebrations, as they are believed to be the sacred places where Krishna spent his youth and childhood. The devotion and cultural significance of Janmashtami are vividly expressed through the rich traditions and festivities that encapsulate this auspicious occasion.
