MHA revokes FCRA license of 5 notable NGOs over foreign fund misuse
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has revoked the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) licenses of five prominent NGOs after thorough investigations and due process revealed several violations, including the misappropriation of foreign donations.
The licences of the CNI Synodical Board of Social Service (CNI-SBSS), Voluntary Health Association of India (VHAI), Indo-Global Social Service Society (IGSSS), Church Auxiliary for Social Action (CASA), and Evangelical Fellowship of India (EFOI), have been revoked.
The MHA’s move underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in the utilization of foreign funds by NGOs.
The Economic Times reported that in September last year, the Union Home Ministry gave these NGOs a six-month extension. The report also stated that the permits were revoked on March 30 this year, and unless the licence is reissued, they cannot use or receive foreign funds.
