Raj Kundra gets ED summons days after raids in porn racket case
Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty’s husband, Raj Kundra has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning in connection with a money laundering investigation linked to a pornography case involving him.
Kundra is under investigation for his role in the production and distribution of pornographic content through a mobile application called ‘Hotshots‘. The ED claims that the explicit videos were monetized, with funds allegedly routed abroad. As part of the investigation, the ED conducted raids at 15 locations in Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh, including Kundra’s Juhu residence, on Friday.
Sources confirmed that Kundra has been asked to appear at the ED office at 11 AM tomorrow, just two days after his residence and offices were raided as part of the ongoing probe.
The ‘Hotshots’ app, which was later removed from both Google Play and the Apple Store following public and legal pressure, is said to have been managed by Kundra’s company, Armsprime Media Pvt Ltd. The ED has accused Kundra’s company of facilitating the sale of the app to UK-based Kenrin Pvt Ltd.
ED further claims to have WhatsApp conversations between Kundra and Kenrin, showing financial transactions as well as the sale of 119 adult films for a reported $1.2 million.
The app allegedly targeted aspiring actors for web series auditions, with reports claiming that these individuals were coerced into performing semi-nude and nude scenes against their will.
Kundra, however, has denied any wrongdoing and maintains that his wife, Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, has no connection to the pornography or money laundering cases.
Shetty’s lawyer also issued a statement on Friday, dismissing reports that suggested her involvement in the case and emphasizing that she had no connection to any alleged offence.
