Army encounters two terrorists in Kupwara LoC infiltration bid

Two terrorists were killed after the Indian Army foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said on Tuesday.

According to defence sources, alert troops noticed suspicious movement along the LoC and immediately challenged the infiltrating group. “The terrorists were engaged in a sustained exchange of fire. Two have been killed in the ongoing operation so far,” officials said, adding that search operations are underway to ensure no other infiltrator has crossed over.

The encounter site has been cordoned off, and additional forces have been deployed in the area. Further details are awaited.

Security officials said the Army and other forces have intensified surveillance along the LoC and the hinterland to prevent infiltration attempts before heavy snowfall blocks the mountain passes in the coming weeks. The Army, along with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies, has stepped up counter-terror operations across the Union Territory, targeting terrorists, overground workers (OGWs), and sympathisers in a bid to dismantle the terror ecosystem.Indian territory.
