“This is Modi’s guarantee,” PM says in Thiruvananthapuram, targets LDF and UDF ahead of assembly polls

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday promised a thorough investigation into the alleged Sabarimala gold theft case if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) comes to power in Kerala, asserting that those responsible would be sent to jail.

Addressing a public gathering in Thiruvananthapuram, where he inaugurated multiple development projects and flagged off new train services, the Prime Minister said the issue had hurt the religious sentiments of devotees across the country.

“This is Modi’s guarantee. The entire nation has deep faith in Lord Ayyappa. But the LDF government has damaged Sabarimala traditions and now reports of gold theft are emerging from the temple itself,” Modi said, as quoted by ANI.

The Prime Minister alleged that gold was misappropriated from the door frames of the sanctum and the plates covering the dwarapalaka (guardian idols), calling the allegations deeply disturbing.

“I want to make it clear that the moment a BJP government is formed in Kerala, a detailed investigation will be conducted and the culprits will be sent to jail,” he said.

Sabarimala gold theft under SIT probe

The alleged gold theft case is currently being investigated by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Kerala Police following directions from the Kerala High Court. The case has triggered a major political row in the state, with the BJP accusing the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) of failing to protect temple assets.

    Modi attacks LDF and UDF

Launching a sharp attack on both the LDF and the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), Modi accused the two alliances of pushing Kerala into corruption, misgovernance and appeasement politics.

“For decades, Kerala has seen only two sides — LDF and UDF. Both have destroyed the state one after the other. But there is a third option now — development, good governance and BJP-NDA,” he said.

The Prime Minister said the upcoming Kerala assembly elections would decide the “future direction” of the state, asserting that the BJP-led NDA would usher in transparent governance and development.
