Embassy urges Indians to leave via safe routes amid fragile ceasefire
The Embassy of India in Iran has issued a fresh advisory asking Indian nationals in Iran to “expeditiously exit” the country as tensions remain high despite a temporary ceasefire.
In a post, the embassy strongly urged citizens to leave using designated routes and remain in touch with officials for assistance.
Warning against uncoordinated movement
The embassy cautioned Indians not to approach international land borders without prior coordination.
“It is again reiterated that there should be no attempt to approach any international land border without prior consultation with the Embassy,” the advisory said, while also sharing emergency contact details.

Shift from ‘stay indoors’ to ‘leave now’
The latest advisory marks a shift from Tuesday’s guidance, which had asked citizens to remain indoors for 48 hours.
The change comes as the security situation continues to remain uncertain, even after the ceasefire announcement.
Ceasefire offers brief relief
The advisory follows a two-week ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, announced by Donald Trump just before a key escalation deadline.
Thousands of Indians affected
According to official data, around 9,000 Indians were in Iran when the conflict began. So far, about 1,800 have returned to India.
Authorities continue to assist those still in the country as efforts to ensure their safety continue.
