Women employees allege years of harassment; team lead among accused
Six individuals, including a team leader, have been arrested after women employees at a multinational company in Nashik accused them of sexual harassment spanning nearly four years, police said.
Authorities have registered nine cases against the accused, invoking charges related to sexual harassment and hurting religious sentiments.
Serious allegations by employees
According to police, one of the accused allegedly maintained a physical relationship with an employee on the false promise of marriage.
Other complaints include inappropriate touching, objectionable remarks about personal and marital life, and repeated comments about physical appearance.
Management under scrutiny
Police said the complainant had raised verbal complaints with senior officials, but no action was taken.
“Instead of addressing the issue, the inaction effectively enabled the accused,” an official statement noted, indicating possible complicity at the management level.
Religious insult allegations
In a separate allegation, the accused reportedly forced a male employee to perform Namaz and made derogatory remarks about his religion, adding another serious dimension to the case.
SIT formed, investigation underway
Five of the accused were arrested and presented in court, with police custody granted till April 10. One accused has been sent to judicial custody.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by ACP (Crime) Sandeep Mitke, has been constituted to probe the matter on the instructions of Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik.
