    Visit reflects growing India-Saudi strategic partnership

    India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval visited Riyadh on Sunday, holding a series of high-level meetings with senior Saudi leaders to deepen bilateral cooperation and discuss key regional developments.

    The visit highlights the strengthening strategic partnership between India and Saudi Arabia amid evolving geopolitical dynamics.

    Key meetings with Saudi leadership

    During the visit, Doval met several top Saudi officials, including Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and National Security Advisor Musaed Al-Aiban.

    According to the Embassy of India in Riyadh, the discussions covered a wide range of issues, including bilateral relations, regional security concerns, and areas of mutual interest.

    The embassy said in a statement on X,
    “Hon’ble NSA Shri Ajit Doval paid an official visit to Riyadh on April 19. He was received at the Airport by Ambassador Dr Suhel Khan and Deputy Minister for Political Affairs @KSAmofaEN Ambassador Dr. Saud Al-Sati. Later, he had meetings with Energy Minister H.R.H. Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Foreign Minister H.H. Prince Faisal bin Farhan and National Security Advisor Dr. Musaed Al-Aiban. During the meetings they discussed bilateral relations, regional situation and other issues of mutual intrests.”

    Focus on energy and security

    The talks are understood to have focused on strengthening energy cooperation, enhancing strategic ties, and addressing regional security challenges.

    India and Saudi Arabia have increasingly expanded their engagement across sectors such as energy, trade, and defence in recent years.

    The visit comes amid a series of diplomatic engagements by India on global security issues.

    Earlier this week, Doval held discussions with Rustem Umerov, Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defence Council, reflecting continued strategic dialogue between New Delhi and Ukraine.

    According to Randhir Jaiswal, the talks focused on bilateral ties and the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, with India reiterating its position in favour of a peaceful resolution through dialogue and diplomacy.

    Together, these engagements underline India’s proactive diplomatic approach in navigating complex global and regional security challenges while strengthening ties with key international partners.
