Astrologer and TVK spokesperson Rickey Radhan Pandit Vettrivel has now been appointed Officer on Special Duty to the Tamil Nadu CM
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has appointed his long-time astrologer and TVK spokesperson Rickey Radhan Pandit Vettrivel as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Minister in a political appointment that has drawn significant attention in the state.
According to an official order issued by the Tamil Nadu Public Department, Radhan Pandit has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty (Political) with immediate effect from the date of assuming office.
Radhan Pandit, known to be one of Vijay’s close advisors, had publicly predicted a sweeping victory for Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) ahead of the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Describing Vijay’s horoscope as “extraordinary” and a “tsunami horoscope”, he had claimed that the actor-turned-politician would emerge victorious and eventually become Chief Minister with a dominant mandate.
During the election campaign and even after exit polls were released, Radhan Pandit dismissed projections that underestimated TVK’s performance. Speaking to ANI at the time, he had claimed that the party would win “above 170 or above 140” seats and asserted that TVK had secured nearly 45 per cent vote share based on its internal assessment.
“We are just ignoring these exit polls. I am sure we are going to sweep this election by above 170 or above 140. We studied very well. We had our personal survey. We are sure about a minimum 45% of vote-banking. It’s not between 20-25 per cent… 108 hours to go for the election counting… 109th hour, we are going to take the oath. Our Vijay will become the Chief Minister extraordinarily,” he had said.
The 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election marked a major political shift in the state, with TVK winning 108 seats in the 234-member Assembly. Though short of a majority on its own, the party formed the government with support from the Congress, CPI, CPI(M), VCK and the Indian Union Muslim League.
Radhan Pandit’s influence reportedly extended beyond campaign predictions. Sources claimed that Vijay’s swearing-in ceremony, originally planned for 3:45 pm on May 10, was later rescheduled to 10 am based on the astrologer’s advice.
In Tamil Nadu political circles, Radhan Pandit is considered a prominent astrologer and spiritual figure. Reports have also claimed that several political leaders, including former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, had consulted him before taking major decisions.
With Vijay now occupying the Chief Minister’s office, Radhan Pandit’s appointment as OSD is being seen as a sign of his growing political and administrative influence within the new TVK government.
