A passenger bus travelling from Haridwar to Indore caught fire after crashing into a truck near Dausa in Rajasthan, triggering a massive rescue operation

At least seven people were killed and 15 others injured after a passenger bus collided with a truck and caught fire on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan‘s Dausa district on Tuesday.

The devastating accident took place near Dwarpura village under the Kolawa police station limits, prompting a large-scale rescue operation by police, fire brigade and medical teams.

According to officials, the bus, operated by Indore-based Hans Travels, was travelling from Haridwar to Indore with 39 passengers on board when it rammed into a truck moving ahead of it. The impact triggered a massive fire, engulfing the bus within moments.

Most of the passengers were reportedly residents of Madhya Pradesh. While several occupants suffered severe burn injuries, others were rescued by local residents and emergency responders who rushed to the spot immediately after the crash.

To ensure swift medical treatment, authorities created a green corridor, allowing ambulances to transport the injured to Dausa District Hospital without delays.

Dausa Superintendent of Police Piyush Dixit said five passengers were charred to death in the fire, while two others succumbed to severe head injuries sustained in the collision.

“The bus was travelling from Rishikesh in Uttarakhand to Indore in Madhya Pradesh when it collided with a truck moving ahead of it on the expressway,” Dixit told PTI.

Traffic affected, probe launched

The accident temporarily disrupted traffic on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, with police diverting vehicles through alternate routes as rescue teams cleared the wreckage.

Investigators have launched a probe to determine the exact cause of the collision.

Earlier incident: Milk tanker overturns in Rajasthan

The tragedy comes just days after another unusual road accident in Rajasthan. On June 27, a milk tanker overturned on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway near Kotputli, spilling thousands of litres of milk across the road.

Videos from the scene showed residents arriving with buckets, bottles and containers to collect the spilled milk, while emergency teams worked to assist the injured driver and restore traffic.

  1. All these Volov / Mercedes Benz buses fitting with CNG are fire death traps. Many incidents happened but total inaction by Govt. These buses have sleeper facilities & people die by getting burnt into pure ash. NO escape. Totally packed bus, with no escape routes & no one is trained into that
