Lawrence Bishnoi gang hit by global crackdown, 24 arrested

In a major transnational operation, Indian law enforcement agencies have arrested 24 members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and foiled an alleged assassination plot targeting a prominent individual. The coordinated crackdown, carried out with the support of international agencies, also exposed the gang’s expanding cross-border criminal network.

The operation was led by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in coordination with multiple state police forces and international partners. Officials said the action dealt a significant blow to the organised crime syndicate, which is accused of operating across India and overseas.

    Assassination plot thwarted

According to investigators, the operation prevented a planned targeted killing that was allegedly being orchestrated by members of the Bishnoi gang. While authorities have not disclosed the identity of the intended target, officials said timely intelligence and coordinated action helped foil the conspiracy before it could be executed.

Police said further investigations are underway to determine the full scope of the plot and identify others who may have been involved.

    Raids across multiple locations

The arrests followed a series of coordinated raids conducted at multiple locations linked to the gang. Authorities seized firearms, ammunition, communication devices, digital evidence and documents believed to be connected to the syndicate’s operations.

Investigators are examining the recovered material to trace financial transactions, communication channels and the gang’s wider criminal network.

    International links under scanner

Officials said the probe has revealed the gang’s extensive international connections, including suspected links to operatives based abroad who allegedly assisted in financing, logistics and coordination.

The operation was carried out with assistance from international law enforcement agencies as part of efforts to dismantle organised crime networks operating across borders.

    Investigation continues

Authorities said the arrests mark a significant breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown against the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which has been linked to extortion, contract killings, arms smuggling and other organised criminal activities.

Investigators are continuing to analyse the evidence collected during the raids, while efforts remain underway to identify and apprehend other members of the network.
