Indian diplomat objects to ‘incorrect’ India map at Dhaka seminar, reaffirms J&K is integral part of India
An Indian diplomat lodged a strong objection after an allegedly incorrect map of India was displayed during a seminar in Bangladesh’s capital, Dhaka, reiterating that Jammu and Kashmir is an “integral and inalienable” part of India. The intervention came during a regional policy discussion at the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS), where the map was shown as part of a presentation.
Pooja Kumari Jha, Second Secretary (Political and Information) at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, immediately raised the issue, stating that the depiction of India’s borders was factually incorrect and did not reflect New Delhi’s official position on Jammu and Kashmir.
Diplomat objects during seminar
The incident occurred during a seminar titled “Rebuilding Trust, Renewing Regional Integration: Pathways for Revitalising SAARC“, where former Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Ahmed Tariq Karim was delivering a presentation.
As the presentation displayed a map that allegedly depicted Jammu and Kashmir incorrectly, Jha intervened and stated that the Union Territory is an integral and inalienable part of India, urging that the map be corrected.

Jha’s objection underscored India’s longstanding position on Jammu and Kashmir. She described the map as “factually incorrect” and stressed that India’s sovereign boundaries should be accurately represented at international forums.
The intervention was made in the presence of diplomats, strategic affairs experts and policy analysts attending the event in Dhaka.
