Operation Sindoor proved India can strike terror networks with precision: Murmu

President Droupadi Murmu on Friday said Operation Sindoor demonstrated the capability of the Indian Armed Forces to carry out precision strikes against terror networks, underlining India’s growing ability to respond decisively to threats. She made the remarks in her address to the nation on the eve of the 80th Independence Day.

The President also issued a strong warning to terrorists and those supporting them, making it clear that geographical boundaries would not shield them from consequences.

“Terrorists and those supporting them will have to face consequences no matter where they hide.”

Operation Sindoor was launched following the April 22, 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 people were killed. India subsequently carried out strikes against terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

President Murmu highlights military capability

In her address, President Murmu pointed to Operation Sindoor as an example of the Indian military’s preparedness and precision in confronting terrorism. Her comments reinforce the government’s broader narrative that India has moved towards a more assertive counter-terrorism posture.

The operation has since become a significant reference point in India’s national-security discourse, with senior officials repeatedly highlighting the armed forces’ ability to conduct calibrated operations against terror infrastructure.

President Murmu also described the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty with a country that India says harbours terrorism as a decisive step in the national interest, particularly for farmers.

Strong message to terror networks

Her warning comes amid India’s continued emphasis on eliminating terrorism and those who facilitate or support terrorist networks.

The President’s remarks put the focus squarely on deterrence, military preparedness and national security, while also highlighting the role of the armed forces in protecting India’s sovereignty and citizens.

Operation Sindoor, she said, demonstrated that India possesses the capability to strike terror networks with precision—a message that carries particular significance as the country prepares to mark its 80th Independence Day.
