Delhi’s SIR process reaches an unlikely voter: former CM Arvind Kejriwal himself
Former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, along with his wife Sunita Kejriwal, son Pulkit Kejriwal, and parents Gobind Ram Kejriwal and Gita Devi, have received notices from the Delhi Election Commission as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the national capital. The notices were issued under the category of voters “unmapped with last SIR.”
Where This Sits In The Broader Exercise
The five family members are among 110 voters flagged in Part-51, KG Marg, within the New Delhi Assembly constituency (AC-40), where Kejriwal is a registered voter. According to Delhi Election Commission documents, the notices ask affected voters to help verify or update their entries as part of the SIR process. Separately, the claims and objections phase of the exercise received 91,826 applications between August 31 and September 16, giving a sense of the scale of the broader roll-revision effort now underway across the capital.
AAP’s Reaction
AAP reacted sharply on X, questioning how the names of a three-time Delhi Chief Minister and his family could be missing from the Delhi voter list in the first place, and posing the question directly to the Election Commission’s SVEEP handle. The party’s response comes just days after Kejriwal separately alleged that nearly 40% of names added to Delhi’s rolls before the 2025 election had gone missing from the current SIR draft, a claim he used to allege broader tampering with the voter list tied to the outcome of the last Delhi election.
The ECI’s Response
The Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) for Assembly Constituency-40 had already addressed the underlying media report on missing names earlier in the week, clarifying that a name’s non-inclusion in the draft electoral roll does not by itself amount to a final determination of ineligibility — the SIR process includes further steps, including the claims and objections window, before rolls are finalised. The ERO’s office denied any irregularity in how the process was being conducted.
