From lady cop to pregnant journalist: Rahul Gandhi’s growing controversies

Rahul Gandhi, the chronic bachelor in the Congress Party who is also the Leader of Opposition (LOP) in the Lok Sabha, has become a nightmare for women in India if the recent incidents are any indication. Gandhi (58) has been accused by a woman journalist who is three months pregnant that she was manhandled, jostled, and pushed down while she was on an assignment to cover the stir by the Congress Party against Gyanesh Kumar, the Chief Election Commissioner.

“Rahul Gandhi pushed me down by shoving me at my shoulders and jostled me. I fell down, and I had to struggle to save my stomach from the marauding Leader of the Opposition,” Richa Parashar, working with the news portal OneIndia, told reporters.

This is the second time Rahul Gandhi’s perversion was in full public display. During the rally staged by the Congress last week in New Delhi, he was caught on camera groping a lady cop all over, squeezing, cuddling and caressing her despite her police uniform. The lady cop was seen struggling to extricate herself from the marauding Rahul Gandhi. Congress leaders themselves have started calling him the Lover of Pattaya (LOP) because of his frequent adventurous and romantic trips to Pattaya, a notorious sex trade centre in Thailand.

On Monday evening, Rahul Gandhi was seen pushing and scaring away D K Shivakumar, Chief Minister of Karnataka, when the latter walked abreast of the Gandhi-Nehru scion during the Congress Party’s march to the Supreme Court.

Frequent incidents involving Rahul Gandhi and women have led Congress leaders to demand that the 57-year-old LOP tie the nuptial knot with a woman of his choice. But since Rahul Gandhi is in close liaison with many women, the party leaders and activists are finding it difficult to choose at least one person who could fill the bill as Rahul’s bride.
