The Allegation Rocking Pakistan’s Frontier Corps in Balochistan
Pakistani security forces are facing fresh accusations from the people they claim to protect. Residents of Nushki district in Balochistan say Frontier Corps (FC) personnel humiliated them during a security operation and then kept their money, according to The Balochistan Post, as carried by ANI.
The trouble began with a shooting on the bypass road near the Deputy Commissioner’s residence. Two days later, several residents of Killi Faqiran were picked up on suspicion. They were questioned and released.
Their written complaint to the Inspector General of FC Balochistan and the Corps Commander describes what happened between the detention and the release. The residents allege that personnel stormed into their homes, hurled abuse at them, and ordered every man to gather at a designated spot. Mobile phones, wallets and cash were taken, they say, and they counted their money before handing it over. Their shirt hems were then allegedly knotted together, and they were driven to FC headquarters and forced to chant slogans along the way.
Phones and wallets were reportedly returned on release. The cash was not. When the men asked for it back, they allege, their complaints were brushed aside.
The residents are now seeking an impartial investigation into the treatment they received, the damage to their homes and the missing money. They also want legal proceedings and departmental action against those responsible. They warn that heavy-handed conduct against ordinary citizens can only deepen public resentment in a district where tensions and security worries already run high, as highlighted by the paper.
Nushki is not an isolated case. In September, residents of Kasano in Tump, Kech district, made similar accusations. They said forces searched homes, took valuables, beat residents and burned down the house of Ikram Baloch, as reported by The Balochistan Post.
