AAP threatens Congress of ouster from INDIA bloc if no action is taken against Ajay Maken

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has intensified its call to remove Congress from the Opposition’s I.N.D.I.A Bloc, citing actions that allegedly harm the alliance’s unity. AAP leader Sanjay Singh launched a sharp critique of Congress, demanding action against Congress leader Ajay Maken within 24 hours for calling former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal “anti-national.”

At a press conference in Delhi, Singh accused the Congress of undermining the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A). “We will seek the support of other parties in the alliance to oust Congress if no action is taken against Ajay Maken,” he stated.

Rising tensions between AAP and Congress

The tensions escalated after the Delhi Congress released a 12-point “white paper” criticizing AAP’s governance in the national capital. Congress leader and AICC treasurer Ajay Maken accused Arvind Kejriwal of failing to deliver on his promises, including setting up the anti-corruption Janlokpal, a key plank of his party’s rise to power.

Sanjay Singh retaliated, accusing Congress of aiding the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and damaging AAP’s chances in the upcoming Delhi elections. “Ajay Maken crossed all limits by calling Arvind Kejriwal anti-national. Despite AAP’s previous campaigns for Congress in elections, Kejriwal now faces an FIR, while Congress never filed a single FIR against BJP leaders,” Singh alleged.

Leadership struggles within I.N.D.I.A Bloc

The growing discord within the I.N.D.I.A Bloc has sparked wider calls for a leadership change. Several allies have voiced dissatisfaction with Congress’s leadership, with some endorsing Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to assume the alliance’s leadership.

The internal strife underscores challenges in maintaining unity within the opposition coalition ahead of key elections. The AAP’s push to remove Congress may deepen divisions within the bloc, jeopardizing its collective strategy against the ruling BJP.
