‘Modi Ka Parivar’ becomes BJP’s new poll pitch

After the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav launched a slanderous attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hit back with ‘Modi Ka Parivar’, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, 2024.

Lalu also targeted the Prime Minister with a ‘fake Hindu’ jibe.

‘Modi Ka Parivar’ also became a top trend on X on Monday, with thousands of netizens commenting and extending support.

PM Modi’s ‘Mera Desh, Mera Parivaar’ pitch has found a strong connection not just among party workers but also top ministers and party brass, as all took to social media and updated their social media accounts with the ‘Modi Ka Parivar’ title.

Rather than engaging in a bitter exchange of barbs, PM Modi gave a new political spin to Lalu’s remarks.

PM Modi said at a public rally in Telangana on Monday, “My nation is my family. I share a warm relationship with all 140 crore citizens in the country and they are my family.”

He said that when he castigates I.N.D.I.A bloc parties for nurturing appeasement politics and promoting ‘parivaarvad’, they get personal and start smear campaigns to sully his image.

From Home Minister Amit Shah to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to BJP President JP Nadda, scores of top ministers and leaders they updated their X bio with the ‘Modi Ka Parivar’ title.

PM Modi’s counter to I.N.D.I.A bloc on parivarvaad, appeasement politics, and corruption comes as a redux to BJP’s popular and highly successful poll campaign ‘Main Bhi Chowkidaar’, ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Raking up issues of alleged corruption in defence deals, Congress in 2019 had mounted a strong poll campaign ‘Chowkidaar chor hai’ to hit the image of PM Modi but the BJP poll machinery gave it a strategic turnaround and deflated Congress’ campaign with the counter poll slogan ‘Main Bhi Chowkidaar’. All BJP ministers and leaders changed their then Twitter bio to ‘Main Bhi Chowkidaar’ title. While Congress failed to capitalise and gain political mileage, the BJP banking on PM Modi’s clean governance struck the right chord with people, eventually sweeping the 2019 elections.

‘Modi Ka Parivaar’ slogan is also seen in this context and political analysts believe this is bound to give the BJP, the strategic advantage over its rivals in the 2024 elections.

While Lalu Yadav, convicted in fodder cases, will find it hard to back his claims, PM Modi’s ‘Mera Bharat, Mera Parivar’ message will resonate strongly and also find acceptance among people, eventually benefitting it in elections.

“I want to ask him why he has no child. He is attacking those who have children. People are fighting for the family and you have no family. When PM Modi’s mother died, why did he not shave his beard? He is not Hindu. When the mothers or fathers of Hindu people die, as per the ritual, they shave their heads and beards. He is spreading hatred in the country,” Lalu Prasad said during the rally on Sunday.

The reason behind PM Modi’s connection with the masses is the ‘practice what you preach’ policy. PM Modi has time and again, shown his affinity and bonding with citizens, either in poll campaigns or during festivals like Diwali.

Political watchers opine that the Prime Minister giving credit to the 140 crore population for the country’s every achievement, from Swachta Abhiyaan to India hosting the G20 Summit, sends the right message to the people. His political speeches starting with ‘mere parivaarjano’ to his call for the participation of all citizens in the inclusive growth of the nation via ‘Sabha Saath Sabka Vikas’ resonates strongly with the people.

Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) state spokesperson Krishna Singh alias Kallu filed a complaint with Patna Police registered a case against RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, a day after he claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not a ‘Hindu’.

The complaint was filed at Gandhi Maidan police station in Patna on Sunday night and it was accepted on Monday.

  1. A convicted criminal out on bail on medical grounds addresses a public rally and foul mouths the PM. There is no fear of the law. Have the courts run themselves down or are the fancy lawyers willing to make money at any cost?
