Deepa Bakshi

Born in a religious Gujrati Vaishnav family, her grandfather being a great “Kirtankaar” Deepa was inclined to classical dance & music from her childhood. She started her “Kathak” dance training under Smt Sanjeevani Kulkarni at Nashik. In the year 2002, she received Scholarship of Kalachhaya cultural centre Pune for her Advance training in Lucknow Gharana Kathak. Deepa has completed her Masters in Performing Arts (Kathak) at Pune University (2006), under the able guidance of Guru Smt Prabha Marathe, Kalachaya Pune ( Ganda Bandh Shagird of Pt. Birju Maharaj ) in “Guru Shishya Parampara”. Deepa Bakshi has been inspired by her spiritual Guru 108 Goswami Shree Pareshkumarji Bawasaheb, Mahaprabhuji ki baithak Nashik.She being religious, has been trying to follow the path of her grandfather taking Kathak dance form as her medium of offering to Lord Krishna. She has been fortunate to perform at various religious places in India and Abroad. Presently She is seeking advanced lessons in dance under the guidance of Pt. Birju Maharaj & Smt Saswati Sen through workshops. She is blessed by the veteran personalities in the field of Kathak like Pt Birju Maharaj,Smt Kumudini Lakhia, Guru Munnalalji Shukla , Pt. Prabha Marathe.
