Delhi Minister Atishi sued for poaching charges against BJP
On Wednesday, the Delhi unit of the BJP sent a defamation notice to AAP leader and Delhi minister Atishi Marlena over her claim that the saffron party asked her to join the party or face arrest.
The party has demanded a public apology from her after she alleged that the ruling party had threatened her with arrest and had approached her to switch allegiance.
Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva, while addressing a press conference, said, “Atishi failed to provide evidence of who approached her, how, and when. The AAP is undergoing a crisis in Delhi, which is why they are making such baseless allegations out of frustration. But we will not let her get away with this.”
Refuting the allegations, Sachdeva suggested that AAP was embroiled in an internal conflict after top leaders were arrested in the liquor scam.
“The entire Aam Aadmi Party was involved in the ‘liquor scam’ and its leaders were fighting among themselves over the apprehension about who would be the next ‘sacrificial lamb‘,” Sachdeva claimed.
This came after Atishi on Tuesday alleged that she was offered to join the BJP “to safeguard her political career” and threatened with arrest if she refused. The Delhi finance minister claimed she was conveyed the purported offer of BJP by a close associate. “I was told to either join BJP to save and extend my political career or I would be arrested by ED within a month,” Atishi alleged.
