Hackers Target CBSE Re-Evaluation Portal, Board Says Student Services Remained Stable
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has said its re-evaluation and verification portal remained fully functional despite facing multiple cyberattack attempts on the first day of the application process.
The portal, which became operational on Sunday, continued to provide uninterrupted services from 7 am onwards, according to the board. In a statement shared on social media platform X, CBSE revealed that the platform was targeted by a large-scale denial-of-service (DoS) attack that generated nearly 1.5 million hits within just two minutes.
The board also reported more than one lakh attempts to gain unauthorised access to files hosted on the system.
“While thousands of students accessed the CBSE re-evaluation portal today, malicious actors attempted to disrupt services through a barrage of cyberattacks,” the board said.
According to CBSE, the most significant attack involved a DoS attempt that flooded the portal with traffic, alongside numerous efforts to access restricted files.
More Than 18,000 Applications Submitted
Despite the cyber threats, CBSE said the portal continued to operate smoothly and efficiently throughout the day.
The board noted that the platform successfully supported more than 8,000 concurrent users and processed over 18,000 re-evaluation and verification applications by 3 pm.
Officials said the portal’s infrastructure was able to withstand both heavy user traffic and malicious activity without affecting student access.
Security Measures Strengthened
CBSE also highlighted recent improvements introduced after receiving feedback from students. These include longer session time limits aimed at making the application process more convenient and user-friendly.
Earlier, the board had introduced Aadhaar-based verification for portal logins as an additional security measure.
CBSE said its technical teams are continuously monitoring the platform and implementing safeguards to ensure uninterrupted services for students seeking re-evaluation and verification of their examination results.
