Karnataka CM’s close aide, M Lakshmana, made big claims about supporting SDPI
In a shocking revelation, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah’s aide M Lakshmana stated that the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) – the political wing of the banned terror group PFI, withdrew its candidate in support of the Congress to help him.
The PFI was banned under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) by the Centre in September 2022 over its links with terror activities.
Notably, SDPI had announced that it would “rule India by 2047“. Kerala CPM state chief Balakrishnan had once described SDPI as the “Indian version of Islamic State.”
Coincidently Lakshmana’s remarks came at a time when India was struck with 4 terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir in the last few days.
Lakshmana also said that the grand old party, Congress will always support the SDPI.

SDPI, the political arm of the banned PFI, had extended its support to the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
SDPI state President Muvattupuzha Ashraf Moulavi had told the media persons, “In Kerala, we have decided to support the Congress-led UDF which is spearheading the anti-BJP bloc.”
Although the BJP claimed that there was a tacit understanding between the SDPI and the Congress, the party had outrightly claimed to reject support offered by the SDPI. Given the allegations of radical Islam against the banned outfit PFI, the BJP had questioned the Congress on the SDPI’s move.
