
Delhi coaching center flooded: 2 females, one male died in flooded basement of Rau’s IAS Study Circle
At least three students were killed after they were trapped for over four hours when water suddenly gushed into the basement of a popular coaching center following heavy rain in Delhi‘s Old Rajendra Nagar on Saturday.
A case has been registered & the investigation is underway.
Two female and one male UPSC aspirant died while a few others were trapped for several hours after water suddenly entered the basement of the coaching center.
The three civil service aspirants have been identified as Tania Soni, 25, Shreya Yadav, 25, and 28-year-old Navin Delvin.
Delhi Police said, “The unfortunate incident took place at one coaching center at Old Rajendra Nagar, at the conclusion of search and rescue operations, 3 dead bodies were recovered. Their families have been informed.”
The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) reportedly received a call about waterlogging from the Rau’s IAS Study Circle at around 7 p.m. on Saturday, after which five fire engines were dispatched to assist in rescue operations.
Teams from the National Disaster Response Force were also at the spot.
The incident comes days after a UPSC aspirant was electrocuted while trying to cross a waterlogged street in Patel Nagar, which is also in West Delhi.
Officials said a drain had exploded, leading to the basement’s flooding.
The bodies of two female students were pulled out hours after the rescue operation began, while the body of the third student was recovered later into the night.
