Christian evangelization, secessionist demands, and the future of Bharat
A project that was hatched up in the mind of a former Pope has become fully operational in India, and that is the reason behind the sudden surge in cases of evangelization. Dominus Jesus, which means there is only one Lord and that is Jesus Christ, is the brainchild of Pope Benedict VI and was conceived to wipe out even the last vestiges of Sanatana Dharma from the face of the earth.
The ardent followers of Sanatana Dharma who claim that despite invasion and subjugation of Bharat by foreign aggressors, the Sanatana Dharma withstood the test of time, should change this notion, as the modus operandi has changed over the last many decades. Instead of threats and coercion, the proselytizers are employing sugar-coated actions to make the people dump the Sanatana Dharma and choose the path of the Cross. More of it later.
The adage ‘a tiger cannot change its stripes’ has come true in Mizoram, where more than 90 percent of the population belongs to the Christian community. Lalduhoma, the Chief Minister of the State, during his visit to the United States, has demanded that Mizoram is a Christian majority State and hence he would not be content with anything other than a separate Christian nation.
This is in addition to the long-standing demand by the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) for a separate Christian state of Nagaland. The NSCN has set up a government in exile that operates from Amsterdam. What has minimized the acts of terrorism in Nagaland is the turf war between various Naga tribes heading the NSCN.
Isak Chishi Swu and S S Khaplang died in 2016 and 2017, respectively, and the secessionist movement launched by them is at a crossroads now. But Thuingaleng Muivah, who leads NSCN, is adamant that Nagaland has to be a separate nation with its own flag and constitution, and this has made it impossible for India to go ahead with any alternate proposals to usher in peace.
Developments in Nagaland and Mizoram have to be seen in the backdrop of the formation of the Christian Republic of East Timor, an island in the Indonesian Archipelago. East Timor, which boasts a 99.5 percent Christian population, waged a battle against Indonesia and succeeded in seceding from the archipelago in 2002, becoming the first sovereign republic in the 21st century. The new name of the new republic is Timor-Leste. The freedom movement on this island was funded and financed by many Christian countries in Europe.
Situated in the Timor Sea, which is pregnant with earthquakes capable of transforming into tsunamis, this Christian Republic is always on tenterhooks of getting submerged because of the high waves. But that has not dampened the spirit of the people despite the fact that tsunami waves would hit the island nation within 10 to 15 minutes of their occurrence.
Coming back to what Laduhoma, an IPS officer-turned-Congress leader-turned-chief of Zoram Peoples’ Movement, had said in his speech at Indianapolis during his US visit, one can take it for granted that this is the beginning of a new agitation for secessionism from India[1]. Hestated that the Mizos constitute a nation, but they are scattered acrossthree governments: thoseof Myanmar, Bangladesh, and India. “I want us to have the conviction and confidence that one day, through the strength of God, who made us a nation, we will rise together under one leadership to achieve our destiny of nationhood. While a country may have borders, a true nation transcends such limitations. We have been unjustly divided, forced to exist under three different governments in three different countries, and this is something we can never accept,” said Lalduhoma while addressing the specially invited Mizo Christians in Indianapolis.
Lalduhoma was a close aide to Indira Gandhi, the former Prime Minister of India. Through this relation, he had developed close contact with Sonia Gandhi. He left Congress and joined the Zoram Peoples’ Movement as a strategic move, and in 2023, he became the chief minister of Mizoram. While addressing the Indianapolis conclave, Lalduhoma told the audience that he does not approve of the international border between India and Bangladesh. What he meant by condemning the system that divided Mizo people into three countries is that it was time they launched an agitation to form a Christian Republic.
India is witnessing unprecedented evangelization and proselytization. The demand for forming a separate Christian nation is becoming louder and louder in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh. The Church is finding it difficult to recruit new faithful to be recruited as priests and nuns. This is due to the newfound prosperity in the community, because of which youths shun the idea of celibacy. Till the early 1980s, girls from poor families in the community opted to join a nunnery, as in most houses, there were a dozen girls to be married off. If one or two girls opt to become nuns, it would bring major relief to the parents. Not only the Churches in Kerala, but even the Christian-run institutions in Europe were struggling to get new recruits to work as nuns and home nurses. The agents from Europe (mainly Catholic priests from Kerala working in the UK, Italy, Germany, etc.) toured Kerala and recruited girls, offering them good salaries and living conditions. The ordeals suffered by the new recruits in their new homes in Italy, Germany, and the UK have been chronicled by a senior journalist, Sonia Dougal, from the UK. She had toured Kerala and convents in Europe before penning down “The Nun-Runners” (Hodder & Stoughton, 1971). The book jolted the people of Kerala and Janayugam, the mouthpiece of CPI, translated it into Malayalam and published it as a serial by the name Kanya Vanibhakkar. Interestingly, the present-day CPI leaders are hardcore supporters of the Church and the lead anti-Hindu force in India.
Mizoram, Nagaland, Chhattisgarh, the Red Corridor linking Pasupathinath Temple in Nepal with Tirupati Balaji Temple in Andhra Pradesh, and similar cases prove that Dominus Jesus is in action in India with vigor and vitality. The mission Love Jihad may be hardly two decades old, but Dominus Jesus has been going strong since 6th August 2000. We have an Archbishop by the name Josef Pamplany who had the audacity to tell Prime Minister Narendra Modi that if the price of rubber is hiked to Rs.300 per kg, the Christians would ensure that the BJP wins at least two Lok Sabha seats from Kerala in the 2024 general election[2]. Wasn’t this a blatant violation of the Representation of the People’s Act, which had banned the sale of votes?
The Church had succeeded in planting its own sheep in sensitive and strategic positions in both the Central and State governments. This is to influence policies being formulated by the government in areas like agriculture, education, human resources development, social development, health, internal security, Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), and a host of other departments.
Though there were many instances of priests and nuns getting arrested on charges ranging from murder, human trafficking, to POCSO (Protection of Children from sexual Offences) Act, they manage to walk away with a smile as they are aware of the fact that Indian laws are incapable of harming them. Swami Lakshmanananda Saraswathi, an octogenarian Hindu monk whose mission was to bring back the converted tribals and depressed classes in Orissa to Sanatana Dharma, was shot dead in 2008 by Maoists at the instance of evangelists. The latter found the venerated monk a stumbling block in their proselytization drive in Orissa. The name of Stan Sami, a padre from Tamil Nadu’s Tirunelveli, had figured in the list of murderers, but he was excluded from the case for reasons known only to people in higher positions.
Swami Chidanandapuri, pontiff of the Kolathur Advaitashramam in Kozhikode, who is also the spiritual leader of Hindus in Kerala, had to shut down the orphanages and women’s homes functioning under the Ashram following relentless threats issued by the Marxists, Mullahs, and Bishops. “No such institutions will be allowed to function in the State, as they were being run as role models. It was the muscle power that won the contest at the end of the day,” the Swamiji told PGurus.
There was a time when those who wanted to convert to other religions had to file an affidavit before the district collector and publish the same in the Government Gazette. But that law has been done away with. If you want to get converted to Christianity, all you have to do is tell the padre in the church who will symbolically baptize you. There is no need for you to change your name. Only the Church authorities and members of the prayer collective will know that you are their own brethren.
What is the way out to save ourselves from the fusillade from Dominus Jesus? It is time India brings back the Gurukula system of education and establishes Veda Patasala in all districts in the country. These Veda Patasala should have a modern curriculum along with the Indian system of knowledge and tradition.
Aarsha Vidya Samaj, a Kerala-based Sanatana Dharma movement, succeeded in saving the lives of many girls who had run away from home to get converted to Christianity or Islam. Archarya Rajesh, who heads the Samaj, made some of the girls write their life stories and what made them elope from home to get converted to the Abrahamic religion. What they wrote in their books is mindboggling and should serve as an eye-opener to parents of all Hindu children. More details next time.
