ED conducts fresh raids in the MUDA case

In a significant development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has initiated simultaneous raids across nine locations in Bengaluru and Mysuru as part of its investigation into the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) case involving Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Sources indicate that the raids are primarily focused on the residences and offices of MUDA officials and builders. Among the notable locations raided is a high-end residence in Dollar Colony, Bengaluru, associated with a builder linked to real estate and construction projects in both Bengaluru and Mysuru. The ED has uncovered a trail of financial transactions involving this builder that are pertinent to the ongoing MUDA investigation.

This action follows a two-day raid at the MUDA office and a search at the residence of J Devaraju, the fourth accused in the case. The investigation has seen the ED question eight MUDA officials, leading to crucial information about alleged financial irregularities.

In a related investigation, the Karnataka Lokayukta recently questioned Parvathi, the wife of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, regarding her involvement. During a three-hour interrogation, she acknowledged altering a letter submitted to MUDA by using a whitener. This admission is significant, as it pertains to allegations that the letter was modified to conceal the demand for site allotments in an upscale area of Mysuru.

Parvathi has stated that the alteration was necessary due to a mistake in the letter, though she could not recall the exact error. Her statements have been recorded on video for further scrutiny.

The ongoing investigations have revealed serious allegations made by complainant Snehamayi Krishna, who claims that numerous sites have been improperly allocated to close associates and supporters of CM Siddaramaiah. He has also raised concerns over illegal financial transactions involving substantial sums of money.

As the investigation unfolds, further developments are anticipated, raising questions about the integrity of the officials involved and the political ramifications for CM Siddaramaiah’s administration.
