NIA arrests alleged co-conspirator in Delhi car blast that killed 13
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested Jasir Bilal Wani in Srinagar for his alleged role in the vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (IED) blast near the Red Fort last week, which left 13 people dead. Officials described him as an “active co-conspirator” who worked closely with suicide bomber Umar un Nabi.
Wani, a resident of Qazigund in Anantnag district, is accused of providing technical assistance for terror-related activities, including modifying drones and attempting to develop rockets ahead of the fatal car explosion on November 10, the agency said in a statement.
The NIA alleged that Wani, also known by the alias Danish, collaborated with Umar un Nabi in planning the attack. Nabi, identified through forensic analysis as the driver of the explosive-laden vehicle, was an assistant professor in the general medicine department at Al Falah University in Faridabad. Investigators have termed him a “suicide bomber.”
The agency said it is examining “various angles” to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy behind the incident. Multiple teams are carrying out searches across several states to track all individuals involved in the attack.
The blast, triggered by a vehicle-borne IED, occurred in a high-security zone near the historic Red Fort, prompting a multi-agency investigation into the operational network behind the bombing.
