Authorities discover lavish facilities inside encroached 11,000 sq ft structure
Authorities in Gujarat’s Jamnagar city uncovered surprising luxury amenities—including a swimming pool, bathtub, and spacious, marble-decorated rooms—during the demolition of an illegally constructed religious site occupying around 11,000 square feet.
The demolition, carried out in the Bachchu Nagar area, also included the removal of other unauthorized constructions. According to police, the encroachments had disrupted the flow of the Naagmati River.
Illegal encroachments disrupted the river flow
Jamnagar Superintendent of Police Premsukh Delu said the decision to demolish the structure was part of an effort to restore the river’s natural flow. “The religious site was built on encroached land spanning 11,000 square feet, which was affecting the Naagmati River. Upon receiving information, we moved forward with demolishing the structure,” he stated.
During the demolition, police found signs that the site may have been used for activities beyond religious practice. Lavish interiors featuring marble tiling and multiple spacious rooms raised further suspicion.
Unusual discoveries raise funding questions
Among the most notable discoveries was a private room housing a modern bathtub. A sign posted on the door prohibited entry to outsiders. A separate notice within the complex claimed that no monetary donations were accepted at the site, raising questions about how such high-end amenities were funded.
Police also noted that the facility resembled a farmhouse, complete with features typically found in luxury residences rather than places of worship.
Owners missing, police launch manhunt
The individuals responsible for building and operating the illegal site have reportedly gone missing. Police have initiated a search to locate and question them regarding the construction and purpose of the site.
