The opposition INDIA bloc, led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress, released its election manifesto for the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls on Tuesday, unveiling a set of populist promises under the banner “Tejashwi Pratigya Pran.”
The manifesto was launched at a public event in Patna, attended by RJD leader and chief ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera, Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani, and CPI(ML) leader Dipankar Bhattacharya.
According to the manifesto, the alliance has pledged to pass a law within 20 days of forming the government that guarantees a government job to one member of every family in the state.
Under the proposed “Mai-Behin Maan Yojana”, women in Bihar will receive ₹2,500 per month starting December 1, to continue for five years, the alliance announced.
The INDIA bloc also vowed to suspend the Waqf (Amendment) Bill and ensure that the management of Waqf properties becomes “welfare-oriented and transparent.”
Bihar is set to vote in two phases on November 6 and November 11, with counting scheduled for November 14.
The alliance named Tejashwi Yadav as its chief ministerial candidate and Mukesh Sahani as the deputy chief ministerial face for the polls, marking a unified front against the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
