The second consignment of humanitarian assistance to Palestine dispatched
India has dispatched 30 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Palestine, reaffirming its commitment to support the war-affected region. This shipment, which includes essential life-saving drugs and anti-cancer medications, marks the second delivery of medical supplies to the Palestinian people amid ongoing conflicts.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced the consignment on X, stating, “India’s support to the people of Palestine continues. Extending humanitarian assistance, India sends 30 tonnes of medical supplies, including essential life-saving and anti-cancer drugs to Palestine.”

This follows the first shipment sent on October 22, which also comprised 30 tonnes of medicines and food items, including surgical supplies, dental products, general medical items, and high-energy biscuits, all coordinated through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
In addition to its support for Palestine, India has been active in the region, sending 11 tonnes of medical supplies to Lebanon on October 18, with plans for a total of 33 tonnes in response to the escalating conflict in southern Lebanon. India has pledged ongoing support to the beleaguered UN agency assisting Palestinians, which is currently facing financial challenges exacerbated by the recent Hamas-Israel conflict.
India’s long-standing support for the Palestinian cause is a cornerstone of its foreign policy. The country was the first non-Arab state to recognize the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in 1974 and became one of the first to recognize the Palestinian State in 1988. India also opened its Representative Office in Gaza in 1996, later relocating it to Ramallah in 2003.
As violence continues to escalate in the region, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has renewed its mandate for another year, highlighting the importance of protecting its peacekeepers.
