J&K LG Manoj Sinha urges youth to lead India’s cultural renaissance
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday called upon youngsters, writers and thinkers to act as “visionary craftsmen” in steering India toward new heights, asserting that the country is witnessing a cultural renaissance after a long time.
Speaking at the Shri Kailakh Sanskrit Ratna Award-2025 ceremony organised by the Shri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust in Jammu, Sinha said the young generation is the “true inheritor” of India’s timeless traditions and spiritual heritage.
Sinha emphasised the importance of balancing modern skills with ancient wisdom. “Youngsters should be equipped with the skills of the modern world and also act as protectors of ancient culture. They should have the scientific temperament of a researcher and the fragrance of divinity like Adi Shankaracharya,” he said.
Reiterating that Sanskrit is the “oldest living language” with a complete knowledge system, the LG said the extensive contributions of ancient scholars, thinkers, scientists and mathematicians could fuel India’s intellectual and technological progress.
Sinha also proposed five resolutions for enlightened citizens, urging collective responsibility for a conscious and harmonious future.
First, he said, society must integrate material pursuits with spiritual discipline to achieve simplicity, innovation and balanced growth.
Second, he called for promoting social harmony and nurturing a generation grounded in peace, compassion and mutual respect.
He stressed the need to eliminate all forms of discrimination and embrace a philosophy of global peace rooted in Indian tradition. “We must convey the ideals of welfare and harmonious human development to youngsters to reduce divisions and conflict,” he said.
Sinha declared education as the foundation of a fulfilling life, noting that the third resolution aims to transform the education system to produce “personalities who embody both a saint and a scientist.”
The fourth resolution, he said, focuses on building a future aligned with nature.
The fifth urges society to unite and confront forces attempting to create divisions, with enlightened citizens leading this effort.
Every Indian, Sinha added, must take pride in being the inheritor of a “rich and glorious civilisation” while contributing to the nation-building process. “A united and developed India must stand firmly on the ideals, moral values and character of our great leaders,” he said.
