Taj Mahal land belong to Jaipur royal family, have documents to prove: Jaipur royal scion Diya Kumari

The Royal family member of Jaipur and also a BJP MP, Diya Kumari, has claimed that a palace of the Jaipur royal family stood on the land where the Taj Mahal was built and that the plot historically belonged to the Jaipur royal family, adding that the family has documents to back the same.

Earlier, a petition has been filed in the registry of the Lucknow bench of the High Court demanding that the 22 doors of rooms of the monument which are closed should be opened to see the truth.

Kumari said that the royal family’s palace stood on the land where the Taj Mahal has been built and that Mughal emperor Shah Jahan “occupied it”. “It was their (Mughal) government then. Even today, if a government acquires land from you, it gives you compensation and I heard there was no compensation given then. But back then there was no law where you could appeal. It was definitely the royal family’s land,” she said.

Diya Kumari said, “It should be investigated what was there before the monument was built and people have the right to know. There are records available with the Jaipur family and it would provide these if required.”

“Since there was no judiciary, no appeal could have been made at that time. Things will be clear only after examining the records,” the royal family member said.

Referring to the petition, she said that it was a valid point that the rooms should be opened and an investigation should be done.

“People should know why the rooms are locked there. There could have been anything before the Taj Mahal, maybe a temple. People have the right to know what was there originally before the ‘maqbara‘,” Kumari said.

She said that she has not studied the records and can reach a conclusion only after examining them. “What I am saying is on behalf of what I have learnt and heard. I have not studied the records. We can provide the records to the court if necessary. Only after examining the records, we can reach a conclusion,” Kumari said.

  1. Strange = India is unable lay its claim on PoK but entire India is putting claim to every inch of land within India. Indians earn their money by selling mother earth or claiming mother earth or exploiting its resources & contribute nothing to the mother land
