Bike-borne miscreants raise Palestinian flag in Karnataka’s Chikkamagaluru

Karnataka Police have detained six minors in Chikkamagaluru district after they were seen riding a bike while displaying a Palestinian flag. The minors are currently being questioned to determine how they obtained the flag and whether they acted independently or were directed to do so.

A police team led by an Inspector has been assigned to investigate the incident. The authorities are taking the matter seriously, particularly given the heightened security due to the upcoming Eid Milad festival procession, which is expected to traverse major roads in Chikkamagaluru city.

The incident occurred on Sunday when the minors were filmed holding and waving the Palestinian flag while riding a two-wheeler. In response to the video and the sensitive nature of the situation, the police acted swiftly to detain the individuals involved.

A case has been registered at the Chikkamagaluru City Police Station. The local police have intensified their efforts in light of recent unrest in the state, including the violence during the Ganesh Visarjan procession in Nagamangala.

R Ashoka, Leader of the Opposition and senior BJP leader has condemned the act and called for a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe. Ashoka expressed concerns about potential organized efforts to disrupt peace in Karnataka, stating, “The local police are struggling to address this organized and sponsored network, which may have interstate and international connections. I urge Home Minister G Parameshwara and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to refer these cases to the NIA for a comprehensive investigation.”
