Russian Ambassador highlights BRICS Summit’s importance

The Russian Ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, expressed optimism about welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi and 40 other world leaders at the upcoming BRICS Summit in Kazan. Ambassador Alipov emphasized the summit’s significance, highlighting BRICS’ commitment to respecting civilizational diversity, promoting global cooperation, and maintaining independence from external pressures.

“The BRICS framework is unique in its respect for civilizational diversity and its steadfast commitment to non-interference in domestic affairs,” Ambassador Alipov stated. He noted that this approach has allowed BRICS to create a platform free from external influence, focused on mutual respect and sovereignty.

As interest in BRICS continues to grow, the ambassador acknowledged the group’s natural trajectory toward expansion. “It is inevitable for BRICS to expand, given its increasing geopolitical relevance,” he said, stressing that prospective members should be economically ambitious and committed to opposing illegitimate sanctions.

Ambassador Alipov also highlighted BRICS’ role in promoting the Global South’s agenda, calling for alternatives to outdated global financial systems, particularly a substitute for the SWIFT payment system. “The relevance of BRICS is growing, and we must advance alternatives that better serve emerging economies,” he added.

As anticipation builds for the summit, Russia reaffirms its commitment to collaborating with BRICS partners to establish a more equitable global order. The summit aims to address key global issues, further strengthening BRICS as a powerful voice for the Global South.

In a related effort to enhance economic cooperation, the Embassy of India in Moscow hosted a successful B2B Networking Dinner alongside the BRICS Business Forum. The event brought together over 80 industry leaders from India and Russia, fostering dialogue on trade and investment opportunities.
