A big blunder by CM Bhagwant Mann
The German auto giant BMW has refuted claims made by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in its official statement. BMW said in the statement that it has no plans for setting up additional manufacturing plants in Punjab.
Bhagwant Mann is on a visit to Germany and met the BMW officials yesterday. After Mann held a meeting with BMW officials at the company’s headquarters in Germany’s Munich, he tweeted, “A meeting was held with their top officials at the head office of the world famous car company BMW… They agreed to set up a unit related to car parts in Punjab on a large scale.. Now there is only one plant in Chennai”
In the release, the company however stated that it is “firmly committed to its Indian operations with its manufacturing plant in Chennai, a parts warehouse in Pune, a training centre in Gurgaon NCR, and a well-developed dealer network across major metropolitans of the country. With BMW, MINI, and Motorrad, the BMW Group has its sight set firmly on the premium sector of the Indian automobile sector”.
The company further said in its statement, “Along with cars and motorcycles, BMW Group’s activities in India comprise financial services for its premium clientele. BMW India and BMW India Financial Services are 100% subsidiaries of the BMW Group and are headquartered in Gurgaon (National Capital Region).”
