Malappuram Police seize 40,000 SIM cards, 180 phones from Delhi native Abdul Roshan

The Malappuram Cyber Police has nabbed Abdul Roshan for supplying around 40,000 sim cards of various mobile companies to online trading game fraudsters and criminals. More than 180 Chinese mobile phones were also recovered from him.

Abdul Roshan and shop owners replicated SIMS using the biometrics of those who came to the mobile shop to take new SIMs.

Roshan’s associates, operating mobile phone shops, illicitly utilized customers’ fingerprints to activate counterfeit SIM cards. The SIM cards were then supplied to Roshan at a rate of Rs.50 per card. These SIM cards were subsequently distributed to fraudsters for malicious activities.

The accused was arrested during the investigation on the complaint lodged by a Vengara native who lost Rs.1.08 crore invested in an online share market site.

Police stated that Roshan served as an agent who distributed SIM cards to fraudulent syndicates. The operation, led by a team headed by Malappuram Police Chief S Sasidharan and Cyber Inspector I C Chitharanjan, culminated in the arrest.
