Gautam Gambhir, Jayant Sinha opts out of politics
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arch-rival Yashwant Sinha’s son Jayant Sinha bid goodbye to electoral politics. Jayant Sinha’s announcement came on Saturday evening, soon after Cricketer Gautam Gambhir and BJP’s Delhi East MP announced his retirement from electoral politics. Jayant Sinha was airdropped as Hazaribagh MP in 2014 and was made Minister of State in Finance.
Due to ardent criticism by father Yashwant Sinha, leading to open war on Modi in the Rafale deal, Jayant was not included in Modi’s cabinet, though he retained Hazaribagh’s seat in 2019. Father Sinha in the end became the Opposition’s Presidential candidate, leaving BJP. Yashwant Sinha who was a senior Minister in the Vajpayee government as Finance and Foreign Affairs Minister became Modi’s critic from 2014, though his son Jayant was accommodated as Minister of State in Finance Minister by Modi.[1]
Jayant Sinha was a total novice in politics and was airdropped as MP candidate in Hazaribagh, held by Yashwant Sinha for many times. An engineer by profession, Jayant Sinha was involved in many international businesses, especially from US and Mauritius-linked firms along with his wife and brother. Jayant Sinha was head of Omdiyar Foundation in Asia when BJP made him a candidate for Lok Sabha in 2014. His wife is the Director of many big companies.
Jayant Sinha and Gautam Gambhir came out with similarly worded posts in X, announcing the end of their political career courteously, thanking the Prime Minister and BJP.

BJP unceremoniously removed Delhi East MP Mahesh Giri, a disciple of Sri Sri Ravishankar, and made former Indian Cricket Captain Gautam Gambhir in 2019. Gambhir was always busy with cricketing assignments and was a regular Cricket Commentator.

Both were undeserving the political lift given by BJP & they failed to rise to the position they were air lifted by BJP, so got dropped. Misplaced priorities & getting carried away by the airlifting, so had a free fall. Realization dawns
