Take strict action against Congress leader Supriya Shrinate over ‘Mandi rate’ X post on Kangana Ranaut: NCW tells EC
After Congress faced backlash on derogatory remarks on BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate for Mandi, the National Commission for Women (NCW) lodged a complaint against Supriya Shrinate with the Election Commissioner.
The NCW has cited the “offensive post” about Kangana Ranaut by the chairperson for social media and Digital Platforms of the Congress party, Supriya Shrinate.
The NCW, in a post on X, stated that such behavior by the Congress leader is unacceptable and undermines women’s dignity. The National Commission for Women expressed its shock at the disgraceful behavior of Supriya Shrinate and HS Ahir, who made crude and derogatory comments about Kangana Ranaut on social media. Such conduct is unacceptable and undermines women’s dignity.
Kangana Ranaut slammed Congress leader Supriya Shrinate after the latter posted an image of the BJP candidate from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi with a caption that sparked controversy. Supriya Shrinate posted an image of Ranuat on her Instagram with the caption “Kya Bhav Chal Raha Hai Mandi Me Koi Batayega?” which roughly translates to ‘What’s the market price.’ Though the post was taken down by Shrinate after an uproar, the damage was done.
Kangana lashed out at Shrinate asking her to rise above the curiosity of the body and not to use the challenging circumstances of sex workers in a slur. Underlining her work in cinema where she played roles ranging from a warrior to a prostitute, Kangana said every woman deserves dignity.
After a massive backlash, Supriya Shrinate took to X to clarify the comments about Kangana Ranaut. She also gave lame excuses that someone had accessed her accounts.
