    PM Modi to release the 23rd PM-KISAN instalment from West Bengal, while launching key agriculture, insurance and rural infrastructure initiatives

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 23rd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on June 20 during a programme in Tarakeswar, West Bengal’s Hooghly district, according to an official statement issued on Thursday.

    Under the scheme, more than Rs 18,880 crore will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of over 9.44 crore farmers across the country. The beneficiaries include more than 2.18 crore women farmers.

    The event, being organised by the Union Ministry of Agriculture with support from the West Bengal government, is expected to connect over one crore farmers nationwide through video conferencing.

    During the visit, Prime Minister Modi will also launch and inaugurate several farmer-centric schemes and projects, including Digital Agriculture Mission.

    An Agri-Tech platform will be launched to provide an integrated interface for:

    • Fertiliser distribution
    • Kisan Credit Card services
    • Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) services
    • MSP-based government procurement
    • National Natural Farming Mission
    • 346 natural farming clusters to be established in West Bengal during 2026-27
    • Coverage of 17,300 hectares
    • Expected to benefit 43,250 farmers
    • Support through bio-resource centres and Krishi Sakhis
    • Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana

    The scheme will be launched in:

    • Purulia
    • Darjeeling
    • Alipurduar
    • Jhargram

    The initiative aims to improve agricultural productivity, promote crop diversification and strengthen storage and processing infrastructure.

    Rural infrastructure boost

    PM Modi will also inaugurate 49 road projects under PMGSY-III worth over Rs 213 crore.

    The projects cover:

    • More than 315 kilometres of roads
    • Improved market access for farmers
    • Better connectivity to education and healthcare facilities in rural areas

    PM-KISAN eligibility

    To enroll under PM-KISAN, landholding farmer families with cultivable land in their names are eligible. Required details include:

    • Farmer’s or spouse’s name
    • Date of birth
    • Aadhaar number
    • Bank account details
    • IFSC/MICR code
    • Mobile number
    • Other banking details required for mandate registration
    • Dignitaries expected

    The programme is expected to be attended by:

    • West Bengal Governor RN Ravi
    • Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari
    • Union Ministers Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Shantanu Thakur and Sukanta Majumdar

    The release of the 23rd PM-KISAN instalment is expected to provide a significant financial boost to farmers ahead of the upcoming agricultural season while reinforcing the government’s focus on technology-driven and sustainable farming initiatives.
