Exchange of greetings underscores continuity in India-Russia diplomatic relations
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended birthday greetings to Russian President Vladimir Putin during a phone call, reaffirming India’s commitment to deepening the long-standing strategic partnership between the two nations.
According to an official statement, PM Modi congratulated President Putin on his 73rd birthday and conveyed his best wishes for the Russian leader’s good health and continued success.
The two leaders also reviewed key issues on the bilateral agenda in the lead-up to the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit. Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s consistent position in favour of a peaceful resolution to the ongoing Ukraine conflict through dialogue and diplomacy.
The conversation follows an earlier exchange in which President Putin had called Prime Minister Modi to convey his greetings on the latter’s 75th birthday. PM Modi had expressed gratitude for President Putin’s warm wishes and reaffirmed the enduring friendship between the two countries.
India and Russia share a time-tested partnership across defence, energy, and trade sectors, and both leaders have maintained regular dialogue amid shifting global dynamics.
