Tukde Tukde gang poster girl Shehla Rashid once again in the dock
The poster girl of a ‘Tukde Tukde‘ gang and a former JNU student leader Shehla Rashid is once again hogging the headlines for all the wrong reasons. This time her own father Abdul Rashid Shora has come out in the open claiming she took 3 crores from a Kashmiri businessman Zahoor Watali and former MLA Engineer Abdul Rashid for joining politics.
Besides, Shora also claimed he is facing life threats from her and one of the security guards attached with her.
Before publicly making these allegations Abdul Rashid Shora had also shot off a written complaint to the Director-General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Dilbagh Singh urging him to probe her ‘notorious activities’ and money transactions.
After several media platforms started broadcasting the news Shehla Rashid too responded on social media.
Seeking protection from the police chief, Abdul Rashid Shora wrote in his complaint that ever since he started questioning the motives of his daughter and advised her against indulging in anti-national activities, he was facing life threats from her and one of her security guards.
Inspector-General of Police, Kashmir range has been directed to take appropriate legal action in the matter.
What Abdul Rashid Shora wrote in his complaint?
In the complaint written by her father, Abdul Rashid Shora, to the DGP, Dilbagh Singh, he stated that he is facing death threats from her and demanded an investigation into her alleged “notorious activities”.
“I…request your good self to order investigations into the conduct of Sakib and his associates, bank details of Shehla Rashid, Asma Rashid, Zubaida and Sakib, property acquired by them at New Delhi, their e-mail accounts and their mysterious financial dealings with Feroz Peerzada, Zahoor Watali and Rashid Engineer and notorious activities being done by them in the name of Empowerment of Women and Social Justice NGO,” the complaint reads.
Shehla Rashid denied these allegations
After several media platforms started broadcasting the news Shehla Rashid too responded on social media. Posting a series of tweets Shehla Rashid alleged that her father is a wife beater and they acted against him and the police complaint is a reaction to that.
Shehla claims father, facing charges of domestic violence, leveling baseless allegations.
”Many of you must have come across a video of my biological father making wild allegations against me and my mum & sis. To keep it short and straight, he’s a wife-beater and an abusive, depraved man. We finally decided to act against him, and this stunt is a reaction to that”, she said.
In his letter, Abdul Rashid too had stated that “the Court of 3rd Additional Munsif, Srinagar… restrained me from staying in my home. Despite getting a legal remedy from the Court of 2nd Additional Sessions Judge, Srinagar who as per his order allowed me to stay at my residence with some conditions but despite that local police failed to implement the court order and restore me in my home.”
Since local police did not accompany him to his residence as per the court order, he said, “I went home myself along with court order, wherein I was threatened for life by Sakib and his armed associates at my residence and fearing threat to my life I have run away from Srinagar to Jammu.”
He further states: “…I am under a constant threat to my life by my daughter Shehla Rashid Shora who is supported by the elder daughter Asma Rashid and my wife namely Zubaida Shora as well as her security guard namely Sakib Ahmad.”

Sharing murky details of the meeting between him and a Kashmiri businessman Zahoor Watali at his Sanat Nagar residence in Srinagar, Abdul Rashid Shora said, “Just two months before the arrest of Zahoor Watali in terror funding cases under UAPA, I was called by Zahoor Watali and Rasheed Engineer (Ex-MLA) at Watali’s Residence at Sanat Nagar Srinagar in June 2017 for a sitting and she was in the last semester of her Ph.D. in Sociology after we met they revealed in front of me the trailer of the launch of JKPM party and urged me to extend cooperation to merge Shehla Rashid into their game plan, at that point of time Shah Faisal was in the USA on education leave under the patronage of Feroze Peerzada presently President of JKPM party and Zahoor Watali.” He demanded a full security cover in the wake of “threat to his life” along with an investigation into the conduct of her daughter along with his wife.

Why aren’t these complaints filed in the local language? This complaint is unreadable to all locals except those speaking English. We need to decolonize our minds and courts.
