Police continue investigating the Pune fort murder case after Siya Goyal’s father publicly backed strict punishment
The investigation into the sensational Pune fort murder case has taken a dramatic turn after the father of accused Siya Goyal publicly demanded the strictest punishment for his own daughter if she is found guilty in the killing of realtor Ketan Agarwal.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Praveen Goyal said his family had been devastated by the incident and asserted that justice must prevail regardless of personal relationships.
“Ketan was like a son to me, and the loss has shattered both our families. We were eagerly preparing for the wedding,” he said. “Whatever has happened is deeply tragic. Even today we cannot bring ourselves to believe it.”
In an emotional statement, he said that if Siya is proven guilty, she deserves the harshest punishment, even saying she should be pushed from the same fort where Ketan lost his life.
Mother seeks death penalty
Siya Goyal’s mother also demanded the maximum punishment, stating that her daughter should be sentenced to death if the allegations against her are established in court.
The family’s statements come as investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the murder conspiracy.
Father rejects conspiracy allegations
Praveen Goyal also dismissed allegations made by Ketan Agarwal’s family that his family had prior knowledge of the alleged conspiracy or attempted to conceal facts.
He maintained that they were completely unaware of Siya’s alleged relationship with another man and described his daughter as a “simple girl.”
Maharashtra may form SIT
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government is likely to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case. The move comes after Assembly presiding officer Raju Khare directed the government to consider a specialised investigation.
The issue was raised in the Assembly by NCP leader Sunil Shelke, who alleged that Siya’s family had withheld crucial information and sought a thorough investigation to ensure justice for Ketan.
Police probe continues
According to the police investigation, Siya allegedly signalled her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, who then pushed Ketan Agarwal off Lohagad Fort on June 18. Investigators believe the incident was part of a pre-planned conspiracy after multiple earlier attempts to kill Ketan had reportedly failed.
Officials said both accused initially attempted to shift blame onto each other during questioning before Siya allegedly admitted to planning the murder along with Chaudhary.
Police are continuing their investigation to establish the complete sequence of events and determine whether additional evidence or individuals are linked to the case.
