Shri Mata Vaishno Devi board bags top prize for water conservation and management

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) bagged the first prize of the ‘National Water Awards-2022’, under the ‘Institution/ RWA/ Religious Organisation category.’

The Award has been given by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, in recognition of the significant strides made by the Shrine Board to promote water conservation and proper management of water in the category of ‘Best Institution/ Resident Welfare Association/ Religious Organisation for Campus Usage’.

Shrine Board spokesperson said, “The Award ceremony was organized today at the Plenary Hall, Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Ram Nath Kovind, Hon’ble President of India was the Chief Guest at the inaugural ceremony of the Award distribution who felicitated the winners of the 3rd National Water Awards.

President, Ram Nath Kovind also launched the Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain campaign 2022 during the event. States Of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu secured the first, second, and third prizes respectively in the ‘Best State Category’.

Union Ministry of Jal Shakti awarded the first prize to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board for water conservation management in the category of best institution, resident welfare association, and religious organization for successful campus usage.

Ramesh Kumar, CEO of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board said, “Honoured to receive the award from Hon’ble President, Appreciable hard work done by Shrine Board employees and grateful for guidance from Honourable LG.”

Although going by the records, this is not the first one that the board has won. Previously in 2019, the board had received the ‘Best Swachh Iconic Place‘ award under the initiative of the Centre’s Swachh Bharat Mission. In 2017, it even received the ‘Special Swachh Iconic Place’ award under the Swachhta Hi Seva campaign of the Government of India.
